Chinese Cultural Festival
Chinese Cultural Festival took place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sat. Sept. 27, 2014. Activities include a staged performance, which was presented by performing troupe from Hangzhou, Valparaiso University, CPS students and local Chicago community, and hands-on engagments such as calligraphy, paper-cutting, Tai Chi, word game, etc. that showcased Chinese culture. About 2,000 people attended the Festival.
Chinese Cultural Festival
Three events will be held during the Chinese Cultural Festival on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014. The main event will be at the Whitney Young Magnet Hight School from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a variety of cultural activities and performances, and two will be staged in the suburbs of Chicago--Schaumburg and Arlington Heights respectively. The events are free and open to the public. Join us for a day of fun and learning. Many award items will be given for attendees who participated in hands-on activities such as paper-cutting, kite-making, calligraphy, word game, wei qi, tai chi, etc.
Two-day workshop on Chinese Language Teaching and Learning
The well-attended two-day workshop on the "Planning and Implementing Effective Chinese Language Teaching and Learning" was given by Dr. Weiling Wu.
Summer Trip to China, 2013
CSLCTI is a district wide full scholarship study abroad summer program. It is made possible by the generous support from Wanxiang America Cooperation, the largest Chinese company in Chicago. The four-week intensive Chinese immersion program at Hangzhou Wanxiang Polytechnic (WXP) is also part of President Obama’s 100,000 Strong Initiative. A total of 24 high school students of Chinese traveled to Hangzhou, China, in July.
